Sun Damage

However, according to Prevent Blindness America, 90% of sports-related eye injuries can be prevented by using proper protective eyewear.

We educate our patients that eye injuries can easily happen to them at work and in their home during hobbies and doing common things such as gardening . The manufacturer of Biomedics 55, Ocular Sciences, markets to eye care providers under the guise that they do not sell their contact lenses to direct-to-consumer practices like Douglas J. Lavenburg, MD,PA. Eye care providers can be influenced by this type of marketing by prescribing this lens on the basis of its distribution policy versus the performance merits of the lens. Further, Ocular Sciences produces this same contact lens under many different names in many different packages. The lenses are the same, just the packaging is different. Several examples of different branded packages include: Biomedics, Versaflex, Ultraflex, Sofmed, Polysoft, Perspecta, and many others. The result; it makes it more difficult for you to comparison shop for your contacts - which is precisely why some eye care providers choose to prescribe this lens.
